Chinese paper-making processes were applied within the Islamic Empire. Paper became more accessible to the public, and thus it and books were made and sold, allowing information to spread daily through human interaction. More importantly, paper led to a system of credit similar to today's form of a check. Moreover, the surplus of trade provided much monetary activity within and beyond the Empire.
